Alberta bound

So it's been a while since my last post. I've gradually gotten into a groove teaching, although whenever I think I've got things under control something else happens to keep me on my toes.  I'm really enjoying getting to know my students better and to talk to them about things other than their missing homework and the upcoming tests they'd better be studying for!

A few big things have happened in the last couple months.  I spent a week much needed week on the farm with my parents and finally bought the non-old-lady car I've been awaiting since the Neon bit the dust.  I turned 28 which passed quietly, but with a lot of reflection on what God has been teaching me this year and how I've grown.  Sometimes a first glance feels like not much has changed since I went to New Zealand, but the things that matter like the way I make decisions and the trust I've got in where I'm headed is pretty cool.

I finally travelled farther north than Prince George and visited my brothers and Amber in Fort St. John this past weekend for Easter.  It was so great to get out of the city and into the country and to be close to family again.  Even though I've never been there, it was kind of like being home.  We had a great time recreating our favourite Easter traditions and doing some classic "Forster" stuff.

And now, 4 days after I drove back to PG, I'm packing up again...this time for a whole month away!  After spending some time teaching English in Cambodia last year, I've been thinking about learning more about second language teaching.  I'd love to use those kind of skills to combine with Earthcare content so we'll see where God takes that (most of the time my best-laid plans don't even come close to what He has in mind).  So with that desire for teaching skills and not wanting to spend much more time in school, I'll be driving to Calgary on Saturday to start a month long TESOL program (teaching english to speakers of other languages) at Alberta Bible College in Calgary (1 province east and about a 9 hour drive from PG).  I'm blessed to have found a place to stay with a friend of a friend, and am looking forward to seeing some YWAMers from Oxford, as well as family and some old friends from Enderby.

So pray for my student brain to turn back on, safe travels, new friendships and old, the teachers who are taking over my classes while I'm gone, and the students I won't be seeing each day for a while. I'll leave you with a little song that kind of represents the next step in my journey (although I'm coming from BC not Montana, and I'm pretty sure I won't be Alberta-bound until I die).
