Epic: extending beyond the usual or ordinary. As we were waiting in Heathrow Airport in London on our way to India I noticed a sign on the wall that had a number of different challenges for the flight you were about to board. One stood out to me: "Make it epic." I thought to myself that's what I want this trip to be and it definitely was. Now that I am back in Canada, I don't want life as I know it to be usual or ordinary again.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2

| India DTS outreach team decked out to go to a wedding, Jan. 2013 |
Over the past four months I have been blessed to be able to put a name to some of my strengths and talents. Knowing how these strengths and talents fit into different jobs I have had over the past few years has helped me see where I really hit my stride.
Seeing people grow into who they truly are makes me so excited. It's the part of teaching I absolutely love, but it's just a part. Spending time in a garden often helps us quiet our minds and reflect on our place in the world. In developing countries agriculture can empower people to feed their families. These are some of the things I love about sustainable agriculture. However, both are only a part...my experience with Discipleship Training School has not only helped me understand and come closer to my identity in Christ, but has also allowed me to support others in their own growth.
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Colossians 2:6-7

As I approach my 30th birthday I feel like I am heading into a career direction that has a lot of potential to be epic. Being a missionary extends beyond the usual or ordinary and I wouldn't have it any other way!
Prayer requests:
- continued revelation of who God is and my identity in relationship with him
- complete trust in God for financial provision as I go back to (paid) work over the next few months and raise support
- joy in each day and peace in decision-making
Note: I hope to update my blog with stories and things I've learned since being in India over the next few weeks so stay tuned!
